Relic by Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child
is a fast-paced monster story. Imagine a blood-thirsty beast roaming the sub-basements of the New York Museum of Natural History. The administrative types stage a cover-up to protect the Museum and the opening of a blockbuster exhibit. The scientists are using all their research skills to help the good-guy cops catch the monster before it kills again. For those of you who have seen the (pretty good) movie, the book is better. A ripping good yarn.
